Dr. Sylvia Newman-Green

A native of Louise, Mississippi, Mrs. Sylvia Newman-Green completed her secondary education within the Humphreys County Public School System and furthered her matriculation at  The Mississippi Valley State University of Itta Bena, Mississippi where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science with a truly motivated desire to share the advancement of technology and educate the others about technological innovation and expansion, Sylvia ventured forth to Jackson, Mississippi for postgraduate studies in pursuits that would yield her a Master of Science Degree in Technology Education from Jackson State University.  Member of  Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Member of Epsilon Pi Tau Technology Honor Society, Alpha Epsilon Lambda Honor Society, and Omega Nu Lambda Honor Society.

Armed with an overabundance of technological savvy from her educational studies and the degrees she has earned, Sylvia has unfalteringly steered her career to her current position as Director of Technology with the Yazoo County School District. With her commitment to her field of study, she has, additionally, established professional ties with the professional organizations, Mississippi Educational Technology Leaders Association (METLA), Mississippi Technology User Group (MSTUG), and Association of Information Technology Professionals, Jackson Chapter (AITP),  Furthermore, as an extension of her area of expertise, Sylvia utilizes her skills via her active engagement with social and civic groups, Junior Auxiliary of Yazoo City, Mississippi and The Elite Club of Yazoo City, as she volunteers with their various community service initiatives. She especially excels in technological mentoring to youth and senior citizens of the Yazoo Community, in addition to the technological workshops hosts and facilitates to provide education to the technologically untutored members of the community.

Mrs. Robin Capler

Mrs. Robin Capler serves as the Instructional Technologist for Yazoo County School District.  With more than 16 years of experience in public education, she is passionate about supporting teachers and students through meaningful, effective use of technology.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Mississippi Valley State University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Alcorn State University, and a Specialist degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Delta State University.

Mrs. Capler is committed to making technology accessible, engaging, and empowering for all learners. Beyond her work in education, she also contributes to her family’s adult daycare center, where she enjoys serving the community.

Mrs. Capler lives in Ridgeland, Mississippi with her husband, Stevie. They are proud parents and loving grandparents. When she’s not working, she enjoys shopping, dining out, and spending time with her family.
