Annual Public Notice of Non-Discrimination in Career and Technical Education Programs

The Yazoo County School District offers career and technical programs in Educator Prep, Health Sciences, and Welding at Yazoo County High School. Yazoo County Middle School offers students opportunities with regard to Cyber Foundations I, II, Keystone, and middle school technology.

Availability of programs are based on the annual needs assessment data yielded, student interest, grade level appropriateness, and class availability. All middle school students are offered middle school technology programs. Grades 9-12 students are offered programs at the Yazoo City Career and Technical Center as well as on his/her home campus, depending on program availability.

Specific program descriptions and prerequisites are as follows:

Program Pathway Description: Healthcare & Clinical Services (2 years, 4 credits): Health Science Core & Healthcare & Clinical Services:
The health services program introduces students to health careers, basic health sciences, and basic health career skills. Students learn medical terminology, body systems, legal and ethical issues, and health care skills. Second year students are exposed to advanced care techniques that help prepare students for coursework in any aspect of the healthcare industry. Students can also receive CPR certification as part of their second year of coursework.

Program Pathway Description: Educator Preparation (2 years, 4 credits): Educator Prep I and Educator Prep II:
Educator Prep I is an entry-level course. Students gain foundation competencies related to students as learners, planning and assessing teaching, teaching strategies, and communication skills. Students receive hands-on field experiences. Educator Prep II provides students with the opportunity to gain advanced skills needed to enhance them as learners, teachers, and communicators. Students receive advanced hands-on field experience.

Program Pathway Description: Welding (2 years, 4 credits): Welding I and Welding II: (Implementation Date: FY25) Welding is an instructional program that prepares students for employment or continuing education in the occupations of the welding industry. Specifically, these courses will offer students the opportunity to examine Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW).Additionally, students will learn about Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW). Students will learn safety measures, setup procedures, and welding techniques for each type of welding.
